What Now?

What should Christians do after a difficult or divisive election? Whether you are celebrating or grieving the results, we need to have a biblical and practical response rooted in Scripture and grounded in the unchanging character of God!

Emotions are powerful. After an election it is easy to feel like the ground beneath you is shifting. Those feelings are real, and there is no shame in having them, BUT feelings, as valid as they are, make terrible anchors. They rise and fall with circumstances. They respond to fear, disappointment, and uncertainty. If we let our emotions steer us, we will find ourselves drifting further from solid ground, not closer to it.

Here is what does not change: God is still on the throne. Jesus is still King. No vote count, no political shift, no cultural moment alters that reality. It was true before the election. It is true after. It will be true tomorrow. This is not a call to ignore what is happening around you. It is a call to root yourself in something bigger than what is happening around you.

When you feel the pull of anxiety or despair, come back to this truth. Let it be the thing that steadies you when everything else feels unsteady. You do not have to have all the answers. You do not have to know how everything is going to turn out. You just have to know who holds it all. And He does!

'If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.' - 2 Chronicles 7:14
