The Missing Convo: Why Christians Can't Afford to Stay Silent
There are conversations that are going missing in our churches, our homes, and our communities. And the cost of that silence is higher than most of us realize. This is a look at what it means to be salt and light in a world that desperately needs both.
What Does It Mean to Be a "Tip of the Spear" Christian?
There is a difference between preparing for eternity and actively living as a citizen of heaven right now. Being a tip of the spear Christian means being on the front edge of God's work in the world, not waiting on the sidelines.
This is not about gaining a victory. It is about enforcing a victory that Jesus already won on the cross and through the grave. When you are going through hard things, you are not trying to win. You are imposing a victory that already exists into the circumstances where you find yourself.
God did not create you for a comfort zone. He created you for a mission zone. That is where your gifts, your talents, your passions, and your faith all come together to accomplish kingdom mission wherever God has placed you.

What Is "The Missing Convo"?
The missing convo happens when Christians remove or hold back their biblical voice from what guides society. It is the conversation that should be happening but isn't, because fear, comfort, or cultural pressure has silenced it.
The Word of God speaks to every governmental, cultural, societal, and personal issue our world faces. Sanctity of life, sexuality, family, marriage, parenting, education, business, money, government. Scripture does not just mention these things. It gives them framework.
When that framework is withheld, people are left without the truth they need. And the consequences are real.

Does the Bible Really Speak to Political and Cultural Issues?
A common pushback sounds like this: "When I come to church, I don't want politics. I just want the Bible." But consider what that actually means. The books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are arguably the most political books in the Bible. They are the Gospels. They are the red letters of Jesus.
Jesus confronted the Pharisees and Sadducees, who were not just religious leaders. They were the political leaders of Israel. Their system was a religious political system. Jesus also spoke to elements of Roman rule. His teachings were social, spiritual, societal, and political all at once.
Jesus came to establish a kingdom. A heavenly kingdom that, the moment He set foot on this earth, began to be established here. God's kingdom has laws, language, borders, culture, customs, and structure. His people are entrusted with seeing that kingdom expand, taking territory from the enemy and occupying until He returns.

What Happens When the Church Goes Silent?
For too long, many churches have been picking and choosing which scriptures to preach. The ones that make people comfortable. The ones that encourage giving. The ones that won't challenge anyone enough to make them question coming back.
When the church loses its voice, everything around it begins to rot and decay. Jesus said it plainly in Matthew 5:13: "You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless."
Salt was used as a preservative. The body of Christ was meant to be a preservative to the world, leading people to something that can preserve their body, soul, and Spirit. When the convo goes missing, that preservation stops happening.

You Have a Voice. Use It.
Social media has created a culture where people feel like they need a massive platform before their voice matters. That is not true. Your voice has an audience right now. At home. With your family. With your friends. Where you work.
The size of your audience does not determine the purpose of your voice. God's truth and your identity in Christ are what give your voice purpose. Be faithful with the voice He has already given you, and trust Him with what comes next.
Jesus continued in Matthew 5:14-16: "You are the light of the world. Like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand where it gives light to everyone in the house."
Yes, live it out. Let your life demonstrate the reality of Christ. But also open your mouth. Speak the Word of God. We do not wield it to damage people or prove them wrong. We wield it to set people free.

What Happens When We Bring the Convo?
When Christians bring the truth of God and the good news of Jesus Christ into their spheres of influence, things change.
That everlasting life does not only begin after death or after Jesus returns. It begins right here and right now. And the church is called to carry that reality into every corner of the world.
- People find life, salvation, redemption, and forgiveness.
- People find freedom, purpose, and their true identity in Christ.
- People find healing and prosperity in their soul.
- God's people become leaders and not followers.
That everlasting life does not only begin after death or after Jesus returns. It begins right here and right now. And the church is called to carry that reality into every corner of the world.
What About Voting and Civic Involvement?
If you do not participate in the convo, if you do not get involved, if you do not vote, and then you get upset with the results you see in society, the responsibility falls on those who stayed silent.
Our faith is never in a political system. Our faith is only in God. But getting involved is part of being faithful. You do your part, you pray over the process, and then you open your hands to heaven and ask God to move in your city, your family, your schools, and your government.
The church's responsibility is also to raise up, find, empower, and champion people who are wise, gifted, called, and have the leadership capacity to represent Christ in the public square. Until that happens in full, we do not sit around and wait for a perfect option. We get involved with what is in front of us.

The Foundation That Holds
The more the church removes its voice from society and culture, the more the foundation erodes. Others chip away at it until what was once solid ground is no longer recognizable.
That is not someone else's fault. It is the responsibility of those who had the knowledge of who God is, who had His Word at their fingertips, and chose to stay quiet.
When we build on the Word of God, it can take some storms. But when we remove that foundation piece by piece through silence, we should not be surprised by what collapses.

Life Application
This week, identify one conversation you have been avoiding. Maybe it is with a family member, a coworker, or a friend. Maybe it is a topic you have been afraid to speak on because you did not want to cause conflict or be misunderstood. Ask God to give you the courage and the love to bring His truth into that conversation, not to win an argument, but to point someone toward freedom.
Ask yourself these questions as you reflect:
Ask yourself these questions as you reflect:
- Where in my life have I been staying silent when God is calling me to speak?
- Am I only engaging with the parts of Scripture that are comfortable, or am I allowing the hard parts to shape me too?
- What sphere of influence has God placed me in, and am I being faithful with the voice He has already given me?
- Is my silence protecting people, or is it actually withholding something they need?
